The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested seven suspects in connection with the fatal beating of a worker in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka Upazila following allegations of blasphemy.
The arrestees have been identified as Md Limon Sarkar, 19, Md Tareq Hossain, 19, Md Manik Miah, 20, Ershad Ali, 39, Nijum Uddin, 20, Alamgir Hossain, 38, and Md Miraj Hossain Akon, 46, the Chief Advisor’s Office (CAO) said in a statement on Saturday.
RAB-14 conducted raids in multiple locations to apprehend the suspects, according to the CAO.
Police had previously reported that a worker was beaten to death in Bhaluka following allegations of making incendiary remarks about religion.
Inspector (Investigation) Md Abdul Malek of Bhaluka Model Police Station said the incident occurred around 9pm on Thursday at the Pioneer Knit Composite factory at the Upazila’s Dabalia Para.
The victim, Dipu Chandra Das, worked at the factory. He was the son of Robi Chandra Das from Tarakanda Upazila.
