Inqilab Moncho Convener Sharif Osman Hadi is now in a stable condition after it deteriorated following initial medical tests in Singapore, the platform has said.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, It said information received from Hadi’s brother in Singapore around 3pm confirmed that his condition had worsened slightly but later stabilised.
“Another operation is required, but his physical condition does not yet permit it,” the post read.
Speaking to bdnews24.com, Inqilab Moncho General Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said: “We have shared an update on our Facebook page. We will provide further details there.”
Hadi, who rose to prominence during the July Uprising and the movement to ban the Awami League, had recently declared his intention to contest in the Dhaka-8 constituency as an independent candidate.
On Friday, he was attacked while carrying out public outreach in Bijoynagar. He was shot in the head by assailants riding a motorbike as he travelled in a moving rickshaw.
Gravely wounded, Hadi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for surgery and later admitted to Evercare Hospital the same night.
Doctors had earlier described his condition as “extremely critical”.
