PM Tarique hands appointment letters to people with disabilities

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has begun his official activities at the Secretariat on Thursday by handing over appointment letters to three people with disabilities.

According to Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan, the prime minister presented the appointment letters as he entered his office at the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat.

He said, "The first programme of the day for the honourable Prime Minister Mr Tarique Rahman was the distribution of appointment letters to people with disabilities. The recipients were Ayesha Akter from Saghata Upazila of Gaibandha, Neela Khatun from Kamarkhanda Upazila of Sirajganj, and Md Hasmat Ali from Narail Sadar Upazila.”

"These appointments were made with the aim of empowering people with disabilities through employment and integrating them into the mainstream of society."

The deputy press secretary added, "The recipients expressed their joy after receiving their appointment letters directly from the prime minister. For them, the day marked not only the beginning of a new career but also the start of a new dream."

Both Ayesha Akter and Neela Khatun have physical disabilities.

Born without hands, they completed their master's degrees by writing with their feet.

Neela Khatun has been appointed as a teacher at the National Foundation for the Development of the Disabled in Mirpur, while Ayesha Akter has been appointed as a Class Supervisor at BIAM Laboratory School and College in Gaibandha.

Md Hasmat Ali, who is visually impaired, has been appointed as a Union Social Worker under the Department of Social Services.

Abdus Sattar Dulal, founder of the Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS), thanked the prime minister for providing jobs to the three persons with disabilities. He said that he met the prime minister immediately after the appointment letter ceremony to express his gratitude.
