Court summons Bangladesh Partidin Editor Naem Nizam over ex-MP Rony's column

Daily Bangladesh Partidin Editor Naem Nizam has been summoned to a Dhaka court in a libel suit over a column written by former MP Golam Mawla Rony and published in the newspaper.

Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas on Wednesday also ordered Rony and the newspaper's Publisher Moynal Haque to appear before the court on Oct 30 along with Nizam.

 

The summons came after the court accepted a case started by Dhaka Lawyers Association President Saidur Rahman Manik who alleged that lawyers were insulted in that column published on Sep 30.

 

Manik claimed that the 'vulgar joke' had defamed the lawyers and demanded Tk 1.5 billion in compensation.
