Rain forecast in three divisions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain in Chattogram and a couple of other divisions in the country in the last week of July.

However, there is little chance of rain in the capital Dhaka, says Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir.

He said on Wednesday, "There will be rain in Chattogram, Khulna and Sylhet, including the coastal areas. However, there is no possibility of rain in the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country."

Meanwhile, the BMD has advised Bangladesh’s maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisting local cautionary signal No. 3 due to the deep depression located over India’s Odisha.

A maritime warning from the BMD on Wednesday morning stated that the deep depression over north Odisha and the adjoining Gangetic West Bengal has moved west and now lies over north Odisha and adjoining south Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. It may move further westward and gradually weaken.

A steep pressure gradient persists over the north Bay of Bengal and the adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh. Due to this, gusty or stormy winds may blow over the sea ports, the north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay of Bengal have been instructed to remain near the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
