The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), has found “no truth” to the allegations against actor Tanzin Tisha in a case filed by fashion designer Ayesha Anum Fayazah Sanaya Chowdhury accusing her of fraud, breach of trust and issuing threats.
After completing the investigation, PBI Sub-Inspector Md Jahangir Alam submitted the report to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on May 25. The report recommends that Tisha be acquitted from the case.
A hearing on the investigation report has been scheduled for Sept 9 at the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah.
However, plaintiff’s legal counsel Shubhra Sinha Ray said they would not accept the report. Instead, they will file a petition objecting to the findings and seek a reinvestigation of the case by another agency, he said.
Accusing the investigating officer of “bias” in recommending Tisha’s acquittal, he said, “The audio recording of Tanzin Tisha’s threats was played for the investigating officer to hear.”
The Allegations
Fashion designer Ayesha filed the case against Tisha at a Dhaka court on Nov 27, 2025. The court took cognisance of the case and ordered the PBI to investigate it.
According to the case statement, Ayesha has a fashion house and studio on Road 127 in Gulshan. Tisha took a sari worth Tk 75,000 from her to wear at an event on Dec 13, 2024.
Ayesha alleged that although Tisha was supposed to return the sari the day after the event, she did not do so.
The case statement says Ayesha sent Tisha a message on Facebook Messenger on Dec 15, 2024, asking her to return the sari. Tisha then allegedly abused her verbally and threatened to kill her over the request for the sari’s return.
Ayesha later met Tisha at two award ceremonies on Mar 13 and 18, 2025, and asked her to return the sari. The sari was not returned then either, according to the complaint.
Ayesha further alleged that Tisha called her on Facebook Messenger on Nov 10 and threatened to file a case against her and “humiliate her socially”. She subsequently filed a general diary with Gulshan Police Station on Nov 12.
What PBI Found
In its investigation report, the PBI identified Ayesha as a fashion designer and Tisha is a model and actor. Their “friendly relationship” developed through attending various fashion and award events together and travelling together.
According to the investigating officer, Tisha took the sari from Ayesha through her former driver for an event on Dec 13, 2024.
The PBI also reviewed screenshots of conversations between the two on Facebook Messenger. It said that although Ayesha sent a message on Dec 15 asking for the sari back, Tisha did not see it. Subsequent conversations also showed that the two had communicated about the sari, according to the report.
The investigation report says Ayesha asked Tisha to return the sari through Messenger on Nov 5, 2025. Tisha initially asked which sari she was referring to. After Ayesha sent a picture of the sari, Tisha said she did not remember the matter and would look for it and let her know.
The report also said Ayesha sent Tisha greetings for Pahela Boishakh on Apr 14, 2025. When they met at an award programme on May 18, they exchanged pleasantries.
“A few days later, negative comments were heard about the trial room at the showroom of the plaintiff’s fashion house, and discussions and criticism took place concerning personal matters of both parties and various other issues.”
The investigating officer said the two subsequently had conversations and disagreements over the matter.
Citing Tisha’s statement during questioning, the investigating officer wrote that she had previously had a friendly relationship with Ayesha. Before taking the disputed sari, Tisha had taken several other saris from Ayesha and later returned them, she told the investigator. She also said she had not taken any payment for them.
According to the investigation report, Tisha said she had forgotten about the sari because a long period had passed since she took it. Her former driver left his job without returning the sari, after which she tried through various means to obtain an address from Ayesha where she could send it back.
Tisha told the investigator that after learning about the case, she returned the sari by post.
The PBI said it found no evidence to substantiate the allegations of fraud and breach of trust because Tisha returned the sari by post on Mar 31.
Regarding the allegation of threats, the PBI said the final part of a message sent by Tisha on Nov 10, 2025 asked for an address to which the sari could be returned and wished Ayesha a beautiful life. Considering these circumstances, the PBI also found no evidence to substantiate the allegation of threats.
Plaintiff Objects
Plaintiff Ayesha has expressed dissatisfaction with the PBI’s investigation report.
She claimed that she had provided the investigating officer with witnesses, the audio recording of the alleged threats and various other pieces of evidence during the investigation. Despite this, the report concluded that the allegations could not be substantiated, she said.
She said she would file a petition objecting to the report in court.
Another Sari Case Against Tisha
This is the second case against Tisha involving a sari.
Earlier, a case was filed against her over allegations that she took a sari worth around Tk 28,800 from online fashion page “Apponia” and failed to keep her promise to promote it and pay for it.
The court ordered the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch, or DB, to investigate that case. The DB report said there was preliminary evidence supporting the allegations against Tisha.
Taking cognisance of the report, the court issued a summons. Tisha subsequently appeared before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana on Aug 13 and secured bail.
