Renowned academic Syed Manzoorul Islam breathing without ventilation support

Two stents have been placed in his heart following admission

Syed Manzoorul Islam, an emeritus professor and renowned writer, is now able to breathe naturally without ventilation support while undergoing treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhaka.

Citing doctors at the hospital, Bangla Academy Director Kabi Sarkar Amin shared the update on Tuesday.

The former Dhaka University professor was admitted to the hospital on Friday after suffering a heart attack.

His condition worsened on Sunday, leading doctors to place him on ventilation support.

Following his admission, two stents were inserted in his heart.
