Former Bogura MP Shariful Islam Jinnah arrested

Jinnah has been absconding since he was named in several cases, including a murder case filed over a July Uprising incident

Bogura police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Bogura Jatiya Party leader and former lawmaker Shariful islam Jinnah.

He was arrested from the Ramna Thana area of Dhaka around 3am on Friday, said Bogura DB chief Iqbal Bahar.

Jinnah is a three-time former member of parliament from the Bogura-2 constituency and the president of the Bogura district committee and vice chairman of the central committee of the Jatiya Party.

Iqbal said Jinnah has been absconding since he has been named in several cases, including a murder case filed over an incident during the July Uprising. A total of 10 cases are pending in court against him, including charges of murder and under the Explosives Act.

Iqbal also said that Jinnah would be presented to the court on Friday over those cases.
