A truck has run over a motorcycle and killed three riders in Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat Upazila.

The accident occurred around 9am on the Raniganj Road, said Ghoraghat Police chief Shahidul Islam.

The victims were identified as Al Amin, 15, Md Saikat, 16, and Md Kaiyum, 20 -- all construction workers from Nurpur village.

The three had set out together in the morning to reach a construction site near Kalabagan.

Officer Shahidul Islam said the motorcycle collided head-on with a Dinajpur-bound truck when they reached near Raniganj Bazar on their way.

The impact threw them onto the road, killing one on the spot.

Locals rushed the other two to hospital, but one died on the way and the third was pronounced dead on arrival.

The truck was seized but the driver and his assistant fled the scene.

Legal proceedings are under way, the police officer added.
