Chief prosecutor says Tarique was tortured at DGFI’s JIC during 1/11

Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam says Tarique Rahman was tortured at the Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC), a secret DGFI detention facility, during the 1/11 military-controlled government.

Aminul spoke after inspecting the JIC at the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence complex in Dhaka Cantonment on Saturday.

“During 1/11, [Prime Minister Tarique] was also brought to one of the rooms in the JIC cell we visited [on Saturday], where he was tortured.”

The information gathered from witness accounts will gradually be reflected in the trial, Islam said.
