A youth has been brutally hacked, after being tied to a pillar, in Chapainawabganj’s Shibganj.
The victim has been admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.
Police have confirmed the arrest of two suspects following the filing of a case over the incident on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Abu Sufian Siju, 21, who came under the grisly attack at Omarpur Ghat.
Shibganj Police’s Sub Inspector Gopal Chandra Mandal said doctors warned that they might need to get rid of one of the wrists of Sufian.
The operation was supposed to happen on Saturday.
The case, filed by Sufian’s father, said 12 to 15 people were involved in the attack.
“My son probably lost his left eye. Doctors say his left wrist needs to be cut off,” said Sufia Begum, the victim’s mother.
She accused activists of Jamaat-e-Islami of carrying out the attack on her son.
Shibganj Upazila Jamaat Amir Sadikul Islam refused that his party activists could be involved in such an attack.
