Major changes are coming to the cabinet of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman six months after his BNP government came to power.
Five names are being added to the list of ministers and state ministers, while one state minister is set to be elevated to the rank of minister.
The new additions are BNP Standing Committee Member and Narsingdi-2 MP Abdul Moyeen Khan, Bangladesh Jatiya Party Chairman and Bhola-1 MP Andaleeve Rahman, Bandarban MP Sa Ching Prue Jerry, Gaibandha-4 MP Mohammad Shamim Kaisar Lincoln, and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat is set to be elevated to the rank of minister.
Their oath-taking ceremony is to be held immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Friday evening.
The future ministers and state ministers have already arrived at Bangabhaban. After taking his own oath of office, Fakhrul will administer their oaths to them.
Tarique's government was sworn in on Feb 17 after the BNP's landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary polls.
Apart from the prime minister, 25 ministers and 24 state ministers took their oaths that day.
Among the state ministers, Kayser Kamal was appointed as deputy speaker last March, while Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan resigned on Jun 1.
As Fakhrul is set to become the head of state, his local government minister post is vacant.
In addition to the ministers and state ministers, the prime minister also has 10 advisors.
Five of them had been serving at the rank of minister and five at the rank of state minister.
