Bangladesh has not recorded any deaths in the past 24 hours, but the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reports that 512 new patients were admitted to hospitals during this period.
A total of 111 people have died from dengue so far this year, including 14 deaths recorded in September.
During the past one day, 72 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation area and 67 in the Dhaka South City Corporation area. Another 101 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in other parts of the Dhaka district outside the two city corporation areas.
In addition, 21 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the Barishal Division, 109 in Chattogram, 72 in Khulna, 57 in Mymensingh and 13 in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS bulletin, 726 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.
Since Jan 1 this year, the total number of dengue cases has reached 40,044. Of them, 37,193 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
The DGHS has been maintaining records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
The highest number of dengue patients—321,179—were admitted to hospitals in 2023. That year also recorded the highest number of dengue deaths, with 1,705 fatalities.
Last year, more than 400 people died of dengue, while around 102,000 cases were reported.
