A 9-month-old infant has allegedly died at Dhaka’s Padma General Hospital due to the absence and negligence of a doctor.

Abdullah Al Ayan died around 9:30pm on Sunday. Afterwards, his family took to Facebook Live with allegations of negligence.

The video went viral on social media.

At 10:30am on Monday, two officials, including Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Zahid Raihan, visited the hospital.

A meeting is under way between the hospital authorities and DGHS representatives.

According to information provided by Asif Hasan, a family member of the deceased child, on Facebook Live, he was admitted to the Padma General Hospital on Sept 1 with a minor physical illness and low blood sugar.

After nearly two weeks of treatment, the relatives were informed on Sunday morning that the child's physical condition had improved and he would be officially discharged from the hospital on Monday.

Ayan suddenly died on Sunday night.

Asif also accused the hospital of attempting to extort additional money following the child's death.
