Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on expatriate Bangladeshis to think about what they can do for the country rather than focusing on their own demands.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Bangladeshi diaspora at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, he said: “I would like to say to expatriates, let us move beyond thinking about what our demands are.”
“Let us think about what our responsibilities are towards the country. What we can do for our country.”
Tarique arrived in the Malaysian capital on a two-day visit around 8:45pm local time on Sunday.
He later attended the event with Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia, accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman.
Tarique also outlined his vision and plans for the country to the expatriate audience.
He spoke about the BNP’s election pledges, including the Family Card and Farmer Card schemes, as well as the canal re-excavation initiatives.
