Dhaka, Feb 22 (bdnews24.com) – Scouts in Bangladesh are observing the World Scouts' Day Friday along with the rest of the world.
The day is observed marking the birth anniversary of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the scout movement worldwide.
Various programmes have been chalked out marking the 100th year (1907-2007) of the movement. The daylong activities include colourful rallies, voluntary blood donation, art competition and discussion
Scouts, Rover Scouts, cub scouts and cadets brought out a colourful rally in the morning from the National Scout Bhaban, their headquarters in Kakrail carrying placards inscribed with messages on health, cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation.
Dr Shah Mohammad Farid, Bangladesh Scouts president, Muhammad Fazlur Rahman, chief national commissioner and a 13-member Japanese scouts delegation participated in rallying.
Blood donation and art competition based on the theme 'Aa mori Bangla Bhasha and the International Mother Language' kicked off at 10am at the National Scout Bhaban.
A discussion on the scout movement presided over by former Cheif Election Commissioner Abu Hena was held at noon at the Scout Bhaban, where professor Mahbubul Alam presented the key-note paper and .
