Bangabandhu Foundation President Mozammel Haque arrested

He is accused of providing financial support to members of the banned Awami League and promoting the party’s activities

Gulshan police have arrested Mozammel Haque, 67, an executive member of the banned Awami League’s cultural affairs sub-committee and president of the Bangabandhu Foundation.

He was arrested from the Gulshn-1 area around 12:30pm on Wednesday, according to Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Talebur Rahman, a spokesman for the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Citing Gulshan police, Talebur said Mozzamel has provided financial support to the activities of activists and leaders of the banned Awami League through various means.

“In addition, information has been obtained from him that he was promoting various programmes of the banned Awami League to party supporters.”

He said legal action will be taken against him.
