A Bangladeshi expatriate has been found dead inside a locked vehicle in Sohar city of Oman, four days after he went missing.
Royal Oman Police recovered the body of Mizan Mohammad, 30, from the car parked near the Lulu Hypermarket on Monday morning.
Mizan, originally from Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria, had been missing since Friday afternoon when he left home to purchase business supplies, according to his friend Mohammad Robiul.
His mobile phone was reportedly switched off afterwards and he never returned home.
Mizan owned an ice cream parlour and several other businesses in the city. He was known among Bangladeshi expatriates for creating content on TikTok.
After he went missing, colleagues searched different locations but failed to trace him.
On Monday morning, an Omani national spotted a body inside a locked vehicle and alerted authorities.
Police arrived at the scene and confirmed the victim's identity through fingerprint records.
It was later confirmed that the body was that of the missing expatriate.
The remains had begun decomposing after being left inside the vehicle for an extended period.
According to a preliminary police inquiry, he may have died from suffocation caused by toxic carbon monoxide gas after remaining inside the vehicle with the air conditioning running for a prolonged period.
Investigators are also examining whether a mechanical fault may have played a role.
The body has been sent to the morgue at Sohar Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Robiul said Mizan had been going through a difficult period emotionally. Several months ago, he lost his only child.
