Two men have died after being electrocuted in separate incidents in Chuadanga’s Alamdanga Upazila.
The deaths were reported in Ershadpur and Hapania villages on Friday morning, said Alamdanga Police Sub-Inspector Mehedi Hasan.
The dead are Hridoy Hossain, 22, and Ashraf Ali, 27.
Hridoy was draining water from a pond using an irrigation pump in Maktabpara around 7:30am. When the water suddenly stopped, he tried to hold up the pump.
But he ended up being electrocuted.
Locals rescued him and took to a private clinic in Alamdanga, where he was declared dead, said the police officer.
On the other hand, Ali died after falling from a roof following electrocution in Dakshinpara around 7am.
According to police, he was laying tarpaulins on the roof of his house.
He was electrocuted when his foot touched an electric wire.
As a result, he fell from the roof and was injured, said Mehedi.
His family took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, but the emergency department doctors declared him dead after examination.
