A farmer has been injured in firing by India’s Border Security Force near the Chhagalnaiya border in Feni, according to his family.

The wounded man, identified by his first name as Mosharraf, 47, is being treated at Chattogram Medical College Hospital after he was shot on Friday while working on his land near the border.

Citing family members, Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam Ashek of the hospital police outpost said a bullet fired by the BSF struck the left side of Mosharraf’s back.

His relatives took him to the hospital, where doctors removed the bullet, although some fragments remain inside, the family said.

Chhagalnaiya Police Station chief Abu Taher said Mosharraf is a local resident.

“I heard that he was shot in the afternoon while working on his own land near the Purba Joynagar border,” he said.
