Advisor Bashir visits child domestic worker 'tortured' at ex-Biman MD Shafiqur's home

Police have arrested the recently departed Biman MD on allegations of torturing the 11 year old girl

Sheikh Bashir Uddin has visited the child victim at the hospital following allegations of abuse at the residence of the former Biman Bangladesh Airlines managing director.

The advisor to the commerce and civil aviation ministries visited the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur to inquire about the condition of the child currently undergoing treatment.

In a media statement issued on Wednesday, the commerce ministry says the advisor has instructed hospital authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the child receives the highest standard of medical care.

He also spoke with the victim’s family members to offer his reassurances and promised to assist the child’s father with employment opportunities.

The 11 year old child domestic worker, who was employed at the home of former Biman MD Shafiqur Rahman, was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries on Jan 31.

Police subsequently arrested Shafiqur on Feb 2.
