Content creator RS Fahim Chowdhury has been arrested in a case filed over an alleged attempted murder during the July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order on Monday following the investigating officer's plea.

Fahim was apprehended by a “mob” outside the Mirpur National Zoo on Mar 29 and then sent to jail the next day over his alleged involvement in the murder of Md Imran at Gulshan during the July Uprising.

On Apr 2, Mohammadpur Police SI Mominul Islam filed a petition to show Fahim arrested in the attempted murder case filed by Masud Hossain, who sued 176 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on Jul 10 last year.

The court then fixed Monday for the hearing.

Fahim was brought to court, where Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon, representing the state,

argued in favour of showing him as arrested.

Defence lawyer Rabiullah sought bail for his client, but the court rejected the petition.

According to the case dossier, a group of protesters were marching in front of the RAB quarters in Basila on Jul 19, 2024. Around 3:30pm, shots were fired at the procession, injuring Masud.

He was diagnosed with a chest infection, reportedly from the injury, and had to undergo a surgery.
