Gunze United Limited has commissioned a 424kWp rooftop solar power project at its facility in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Dhaka’s Savar as part of its efforts to expand the use of renewable energy.

The commissioning ceremony was held at the Gunze United facility on Tuesday, attended by United Group Director Khondaker Zayed Ahsan, Group Executive Director Khandker Sayeedul Islam, and Gunze United Managing Director Hitoshi Mori.

The installation features 722 solar panels and is now fully operational, supplying clean electricity to the facility, a statement from the company said.

The project is expected to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and support the company's sustainable manufacturing operations.

The project also demonstrates how industrial rooftop spaces can be used to generate renewable energy without requiring additional land, supporting Bangladesh's broader shift towards cleaner energy.
