The deadline for filling out forms for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams, scheduled to begin on Jun 26, will likely be extended by seven days, according to education board officials.

A final decision on the matter is expected to be made within this week, said SM Kamal Uddin Haider, the convenor of the Inter-Education Board Examination Controller Committee and examination controller of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.

Speaking to bdnews24.com on Saturday afternoon, he said: “Although the form fill-up period has ended, we have learned that many students could not complete it. So, the deadline will be extended by seven days.

“We hope a decision will be made by Sunday or Monday.”

Kamal added, “This initiative is being taken to ensure that all candidates have the opportunity to complete their form fill-up. We hope no student will be left behind in this regard.”

The form fill-up process started on Mar 2 and continued until Mar 10.

Students were allowed to submit forms until Mar 17 with a late fee.

This year, the maximum fee for form fill-up was set at Tk 2,785 for science students while students from humanities and business studies streams were required to pay Tk 2,225.

An additional Tk 140 fee applies for students taking the fourth subject or practical exams.

The HSC and equivalent exams are set to begin on Jun 26.

The theoretical exams will run until Aug 10, while the practical exams will be held from Aug 11 to 28.

The exams will follow the shortened or revised syllabus from 2023, with all subjects being tested for full marks and duration as previously announced by the education boards.
