Mymensingh Medical College Hospital has admitted 33 more children with measles symptoms within a 24-hour window.

The hospital’s Assistant Director (Administration) Muhammad Mynuddin Khan said on Wednesday that a total of 88 children are currently undergoing treatment at the facility.

Since Mar 17, the hospital has recorded a total of 515 admissions involving children showing signs of the viral infection.

Of these, 414 have been discharged, while 13 have died.

In the latest 24-hour cycle ending at 9am on Wednesday, 31 children were released after recovery.

Hospital data shows that sporadic measles cases began appearing in February, with only one or two children admitted at first.

The number of cases began rising sharply from mid-March.

A 64-bed dedicated isolation ward has been set up at the hospital, where treatment is being carried out by three medical teams.
