Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Zakaria issued the warrant on Tuesday after the two failed to appear before the court in response to its summons, said the plaintiff’s lawyer Uttam Kumar Ghosh.

Bangladesh Volleyball Federation General Secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku filed the suit in 2012.

Ghosh said Bangladesh Pratidin on May 18, 2012 ran a report alleging ‘Miku’s involvement in upsetting the environment of sports'.

Miku filed the libel case on June 3 that year, seeking a Tk 100 million compensation, he added.

The court on Apr 2 last year issued the summons on the newspaper’s editor and former publisher.
