Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the government will take measures to provide allowances to the families of enforced disappearance victims.

Addressing a discussion in Dhaka on Friday, he said they will propose introducing the financial aid in the “existing” national budget.

“A special allowance will be introduced by the government for the families of enforced disappearance victims,” he said, adding that the process of legal action against those responsible to ensure justice for the victims will continue.

He assured the families that the government will keep backing them in “all their struggles.”
