His complaint was followed by a case filed by Independent TV management which accused Rony of assaulting Imtiaz Momin Sony and cameraman Mohsin Mukul, of Independent’s crime investigative program ‘Talash’, at his Topkhana office where they went to interview him.
Rony had surrendered before the court and secured bail on July 21 in the assault case.

The case’s plaintiff Independent TV Assistant Manager Yunus Ali had filed a general diary with the police alleging that he received phone threats from Rony.
