Qatar is planning to recruit 725 Bangladeshi soldiers to serve in various capacities in the Gulf state, according to Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief advisor.
"The process of hiring the soldiers from Bangladesh will begin within the next two months," he was quoted as saying by the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangsthya on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit in Doha on Tuesday.
A high-level Bangladesh delegation, led by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, is in Doha to attend the Earthna Summit 2025.
Noting that Bangladeshi soldiers have been working in Kuwait for a lengthy period, Shafiqul said Qatar is keen to hire Bangladeshi soldiers on a regular basis as well.
"Qatar will hire 725 soldiers every three years but we are trying to increase the number," he added.
