Police have arrested the owner of Kolkata’s Shikha Inn hotel over a fire that killed nine people, including seven Bangladeshis.
He was arrested from his home in Kolkata’s Behala area on Saturday, Anandabazar Patrika reported.
Police sources told Anandabazar that the owner fled Kolkata after the fire and went into hiding in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad. He returned to his home on Diamond Harbour Road in Behala on Saturday, where police arrested him.
The fire broke out at the hotel at Kolkata’s New Market late Tuesday night.
Following the blaze, authorities shut down 11 hotels in the locality on Friday. Six more were closed on Saturday.
