A Bangladeshi man has gone missing after falling from a foreign vessel at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port.
Port Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim said the man fell from the MV Crimson Grace, which was anchored at Alpha Anchorage, on Sunday morning.
The missing man, a 50-year-old known only as Yasin, was working on the vessel for a Bangladeshi stevedoring company. Stevedoring firms handle the transfer of cargo from large vessels to smaller ones.
Yasin fell into the water at around 11:37am, Refayet told bdnews24.com.
The navy and coastguards have been alerted for a search and rescue operation, while vessels operating at sea are being regularly notified by radio, the port secretary said.
