An Indian national has been detained with 3kg of Kush at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Hossain Abdul Kader Sheikh was held at the Green Channel in the arrivals hall on the ground floor of the airport on Saturday afternoon, the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) said in a media statement at night.
Acting on information from an intelligence agency, a special DNC team took position at the airport's Green Channel around 2pm, led by Assistant Director Abu Sayeed Mia.
Kader, 48, who arrived in Dhaka from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight, was detained on suspicious activity. His trolley bag was searched in the presence of officials from different agencies at the airport.
Three kilograms of Kush, a cannabis-derived drug, was found concealed under clothes inside the bag.
A phone, $400, 1,550 Thai baht and 400 Indian rupees were also seized from him.
During preliminary questioning, the DNC learnt that several people in Bangladesh were allegedly involved in arranging accommodation for Kader and assisting him in trafficking the drugs.
Kader is a resident of Karnataka state in India.
A regular case has been filed against him with Airport Police under the Narcotics Control Act, the DNC said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the DNC seized 4,180gm of Kush and photocopies of two Indian passports from Shahjalal airport.
That flight was also operated by Thai Airways.
The two suspects who fled in that case were identified as Akash Dubey, 28, and Akash Pandey, 34.
Both are residents of Gondalpara in Kolkata.
The DNC filed cases against both of them under the Narcotics Control Act with the Airport Police on the day of the incident.
