The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has rented 16 special trains to haul people to Dhaka from around the country for the event marking the release of the July Proclamation on the first anniversary of the July Uprising.

These trains will bring in students and people from different walks of life and then give them a ride back after the event.

As part of the state programme surrounding the July Uprising anniversary, a daylong event will be held at Dhaka’s Manik Mia Avenue on Tuesday, where Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus will unveil the July Proclamation at 5pm.

On Sunday, Ministry of Railways Secretary Md Fahimul Islam said, “Trains are being chartered to bring people from parts of the country for the July Proclamation announcement on Aug 5.

“We have received a letter from the July Mass Uprising Directorate through the Liberation War affairs ministry, and arranged eight pairs of trains for the occasion.

“We rent trains for many organisations. We have previously rented it to the Jamaat, and [on Sunday], the Chhatra Dal rented a train from us.

“Similarly, we have rented these trains from a commercial perspective.”

Fahimul said that the trains rented by the government will carry passengers from Sylhet, Chattogram, Rangpur, Bhanga, Bhairab, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, and Joydebpur.

“The July Proclamation will be made in the afternoon. The trains will reach Dhaka between 2pm and 2:30pm and leave the capital again at 8pm, 9pm, and 10pm.

“The schedule for these trains has been arranged in a way that ensures there is no disruption to the operation of other trains.”

On Jul 19, the Jamaat-e-Islami hired eight trains from Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Chattogram, and Mymensingh to bring its leaders and activists to a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
