A driver and his assistant have been killed after a collision between two trucks in Bogura’s Shibganj Upazila.

The accident occurred around 5:30am on Saturday on the Rangpur–Bogura Highway at Deuli Union’s Pakurtala.

The driver of the stone-laden truck, Minhaj, and his assistant, Imran, both identified with single names, were from Tangail’s Bhuapur Upazila.

According to the Highway Police, a Rangpur-bound truck loaded with potatoes was standing idle at Pakurtala when the stone-laden truck hit it from behind. Minhaj died on the spot.

His assistant Imran, who was critically injured, was taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.

Kundarhat Highway Police Station chief Hafizur Rahman said the bodies are being handed over to the families and legal action will follow.
