3 women die in Mymensingh in truck-autorickshaw collision

The autorickshaw was severely damaged while the truck overturned on the road during the accident

Three female passengers on an autorickshaw have died in a collision with a truck in Mymensingh's Muktagachha.

The accident occurred around 11:45am on Monday in the Montola Samity Ghar area of Kumargata on the Mymensingh-Tangail highway, according to Asaduzzaman Shakil, superintendent of police (Sadar and Muktagacha Circle) of Mymensingh.

Police were unable to immediately confirm the identities of the dead.

Witnesses said that a sand-laden truck travelling from Muktagacha to Mymensingh collided head-on with a CNG-powered autorickshaw heading toward Muktagacha. Three women died on the spot.

The autorickshaw was severely damaged in the collision, while the truck overturned on the road. The truck driver, his assistant, and the autorickshaw driver were rescued and taken to the hospital.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Asaduzzaman Shakil said, “After receiving the news, we went to the scene and recovered the bodies of the three women. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.”
