The High Court has granted bail to former Awami League minister Dipu Moni in another case, and issued a ruling asking why she should not be granted bail in seven others.

The order came on Tuesday from the bench of Justice Md Khairul Alam and Justice AKM Rabiul Hassan.

With the latest order, Dipu Moni has secured bail in two of the 15 cases for which she sought relief from the High Court.

Rulings have now been issued in the remaining 13 cases.

Earlier, on Jun 3, the court granted her bail in one case and issued rulings in six others.

Dipu Moni, a joint general secretary of the Awami League, faces around 70 cases involving allegations of murder, corruption, violence, and crimes against humanity linked to the July Uprising.

She has been shown arrested in 38 of those cases.

Police arrested Dipu Moni from the capital’s Baridhara on Aug 19, 2024.

She is currently being held at Munshiganj District Jail.

Her daughter, Tani Deepavali Nawaz, applied on May 27 for her mother to be released on parole for seven days on humanitarian grounds.

The application was submitted to the Munshiganj deputy commissioner, citing the serious illness of Dipu Moni's husband, Tawfique Nawaz.
