A minibus parked on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj, has been damaged by fire.

The incident occurred around 6am on Saturday in the Shimrail area, in front of the executive engineer's office of the Road Transport and Highways Division, according to Siddhirganj Police chief Shahinur Alam.

He said the driver of the Naf Paribahan vehicle parked it on the highway around 10pm the previous night and left. The bus remained there all night. Locals saw the bus on fire around 6am on Saturday.

Fire Service personnel were informed and put out the fire. By that time, the bus's seats were burned, Shahinur added.

The police officer, however, said it has not been confirmed whether the fire was planned or due to a mechanical fault.
