A Grameen Bank office in Feni Sadar Upazila has been set on fire by unidentified intruders, who reportedly left three motorcycles charred.

Police and bank officials allege that the arsonists used petrol to set the place ablaze. Furniture on the building’s balcony was burnt in the fire on Thursday.

Inspector (Investigation) Sajal Kanti Das of Feni Model Police Station said the incident occurred at the Shershdi Bazar branch of the bank.

Ashok Kumar Debnath, branch manager, said the perpetrators climbed over the boundary wall and set fire from outside the main gate.

Security guards, with the help of locals, attempted to contain the flames before the firefighters arrived. Abdullah Harun Pasha, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service, said firemen brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes. Some parts of the building were damaged.

Police inspected the scene after receiving reports. The bank has filed a written complaint, and appropriate legal action will follow based on the ongoing investigation.
