The Chattogram district administration has seized 25,000 litres of diesel during a raid on a used oil shop in Faujdarhat amid concerns over fuel hoarding across the country.

Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court conducted the operation at the shop in Jalil Textile under Sitakunda Upazila.

This marks the largest illegal fuel cache uncovered in the district since supply disruptions began following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East.

Additional District Magistrate Syed Mahbubul Hoque told bdnews24.com that the fuel was found stored in large-capacity tanks.

"The operation is still ongoing. While we have identified two individuals potentially linked to the hoard, no arrests have been made yet," he said.

District Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mian said those involved would face charges under the Special Powers Act.
