A court has sentenced a man to death for raping a 7-year-old girl in Khagrachhari's Ramgarh.
Judge Shayla Sharmin of the Khagrachhari Child Repression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict on Monday, Public Prosecutor Srijani Tripura said.
The convict, Md Shahin, was present in court.
Srijani welcomed the disposal of the case within a year, saying the verdict had ensured justice.
She said Shahin had lured the second-grade madrasa student with food before raping her on Jul 25, 2025.
Lawyer Bedarul Islam, however, said the defence was dissatisfied with the ruling.
He said justice had not been served and the verdict would be challenged before the High Court.
