East West University student 'falls' from 10-storey campus building, dies

The private university says police will be able to confirm the cause of his death

A student of East West University has reportedly fallen to his death from the roof of the university building in Dhaka’s Badda.

The student, identified as Md Muntasim, was a first-year undergraduate law student.

His body was recovered around 3:30pm on Thursday from the gap between the Farash Uddin Building and the main building, said Badda Police chief Habibur Rahman.

“We have learned that the student jumped from the roof of the 10-storey building, but the matter is still being investigated,” he said.

East West University spokesperson SM Mohiuddin told bdnews24.com, “A student’s body was found beside one of the buildings. Police will be able to confirm the cause of death.”

“We saw the body lying there, but we cannot say whether he fell from above, whether someone pushed him, or whether he came here while unwell and died.”
