Two passengers have been detained at Shahjalal International Airport with foreign currencies worth over Tk 38 million, according to the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.

On Friday, the agency said in a media statement that the seized currencies from the detainees include Saudi riyals, euros, pounds and Thai baht.

Officials said passenger Rafiqul Islam, travelling from Dhaka to Bangkok, was found carrying 405,500 Saudi riyals, 24,000 euros, 30,050 pounds and 7,841 Thai baht, worth around Tk 22.06 million.

Another passenger on the same flight, Al Amin Molla, had 485,000 Saudi riyals and 2,110 Thai baht hidden in his baggage, worth around Tk 15.99 million.
