Five members of a family have been found dead with their throats slit inside a house in Gazipur’s Kapasia.

The head of the household, identified as Forqan Mia, is currently on the run.

The bodies were found on Saturday morning at Rautkona village, Kapasia Police chief Md Shahinur Alam told bdnews24.com.

He said the incident is suspected to have stemmed from a family dispute.

Those killed include Forqan's wife Sharmin, their children Meem, 15, Maria, 8, and Farid, 2 -- all identified with single names, while the fifth victim is Sharmin’s brother-in-law Rasul Mia, 22.

Police Inspector (Investigation) Zubair Hossain said Forqan, a driver by profession, originally from Gopalganj Sadar Upazila and had been living on rent for around a year in the house of expatriate Monir Hossain.

Officer Shahinur said the killings likely took place at some point on Friday night.

“The absconding husband informed the victims’ relatives about the incident over mobile phone on Saturday early morning,” he added.
