Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has returned to Dhaka after completing official visits to Malaysia and China.

He arrived at Shahjalal International Airport around 8:15pm on Friday.

Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam received the prime minister at the airport.

Earlier in the day, Tarique departed Beijing Daxing International Airport at 5pm local time aboard a China Southern Airlines flight bound for Dhaka.

He travelled to China with a 25-member delegation.

The visits marked Tarique's first official overseas tour since taking office as prime minister.

He first paid a two-day visit to Malaysia before travelling to China for a four-day tour.

During the first two days of his China tour, the prime minister attended the Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum.

He then travelled to Beijing for bilateral engagements during the final two days of the visit.
