9 to receive Independence Award

The government has nominated nine distinguished people and organisations for the Independence Award 2011. The nominations were made on the basis of their glorious and outstanding contributions at the national level.

Dhaka, Mar 16 (bdnews24.com) – The government has nominated nine distinguished people and organisations for the Independence Award 2011.
The nominations were made on the basis of their glorious and outstanding contributions at the national level, said an official release on Wednesday.
The award recipients are: Gaus Khan (posthumous), Sangharaj Jyotipal Mohathero (posthumous), Dr Nilima Ibrahim (posthumous), Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Abdul Karim Khandakar, Biruttam (posthumous), Shaheed Nutan Chandra Singh (posthumous), AKM Shamsuzzoha (posthumous) and Bangladesh Police. All the six persons and the police have been nominated for their great contributions to the Independence War.
Dhaka University has been nominated for the award for its great role in education while M Abul Hashem Khan for his contribution to culture.
