A man has died after being crushed under a collapsed wall of an under-construction building in Dhaka’s Panthapath.

The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Abul Hossain, a security guard of the building.

The incident occurred around 1:30pm on Saturday when a wall fell on a street facing West Rajabazar and next to Square Hospital, according to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station chief Imaul Haque.

"Two more people were injured in the incident and are receiving treatment at Pongu Hospital and at Dhaka Medical College Hospital," he said.

However, the police officer was unable to provide detailed information about the wounded.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for a postmortem.

Citing witnesses, police reported that people were walking on the street as usual when one side of the building's boundary wall collapsed onto the road.
