Faiza Akhter, who lost her parents and two sisters in a road accident in Saudi Arabia, has returned to her village home in Lakshmipur’s Ramganj Upazila. However, she is still unaware of the deaths of her family members.

On Monday, journalists spoke to Faiza at her village home in Bhatra Union of the Upazila.

She said her parents and sisters are undergoing treatment in a hospital in Saudi Arabia, and will return once they recover.

She hoped to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr together in their home.

Saudi Arabia expatriate Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 40, left home on Feb 3 to perform Umrah with his wife and three daughters.

After completing Umrah, the family was returning home from Jeddah around 3am Bangladesh time on Feb 15 when their car was involved in a fatal road accident.

Mizan, his wife Farzana Akhtar Sumi, 30; their daughters Meher Afroze, 13, and one-and-a-half-year-old Subha Akhtar; and the driver of the vehicle, Md Zilani Babar, 30, were killed.

Their eldest daughter Faiza, 10, survived with injuries and received treatment at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah for five days.

On Sunday afternoon, her uncle Tanvir Hossain travelled back to Bangladesh with her, and they reached home on Monday morning.

The bodies have been kept at the morgue of the hospital, and efforts are under way to bring them home, he added.

Faiza is a third-grade student at Turi Government Primary School in Bhatra Union.
