The fire that broke out at the Kalshi slum in Dhaka’s Pallabi has been brought under control after two hours.
Fire Service and Civil Defence spokesperson Talha Bin Zasim said the blaze was subdued at 9:35pm on Monday.
Upon receiving news of the fire at 7:23pm, two fire units initially arrived at 7:32pm and commenced operations.
The number of firefighting units was gradually raised to 15, while fire engines struggled to reach the scene amid severe traffic congestion.
Moreover, the Fire Service said it faced difficulties at the scene due to a water shortage.
The cause of the blaze and the extent of damage have yet to be immediately determined.
