Flight operations at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport have been disrupted after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft became stuck on the runway due to a mechanical issue upon landing.

Ibrahim Khalil, the airport’s public relations officer, said flight BG138 from Saudi Arabia's Madinah landed at Shah Amanat Airport at around 9:30am on Saturday. Shortly after touchdown, the aircraft became stuck on the runway due to a technical issue.

The flight was carrying 387 Hajj pilgrims, all of whom disembarked safely, he said.

Ibrahim added that once the technical problem was resolved, the aircraft was towed from the runway to the apron at 11:20am. As a result, the runway remained closed for nearly two hours.

Due to the closure, several flights were delayed, including a Dhaka-bound Biman flight, a Muscat-bound flight operated by SalamAir, and inbound flights from US-Bangla and Air Astra.
