Government sacks Biman MD Shafiqur, puts bureaucrat Humaira in charge

The government has fired Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shafiqur Rahman after his arrest on charges of torturing a child domestic worker.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism announced the decision in an office order on Tuesday.

Humaira Sultana, an additional secretary, has been given additional charge of the posts.

Police arrested Shafiqur and his wife on Monday morning on charges of torturing a child domestic worker.
